About YouTubeSFX

Built by an audio engineer, for YouTube video editors.

YouTubeSFX is a curated library of free royalty-free sound effects designed for YouTube creators. Every sound is mixed, leveled, and exported by an actual audio engineer — not pulled from a stock catalog or generated by AI.

Why YouTubeSFX exists

I'm an audio engineer and music producer. For years I watched video editors I knew — friends, clients, YouTubers — pay $20-30 a month for sound effect subscriptions, hunt through ten-thousand-clip libraries for the right whoosh, or get hit with Content ID claims on monetized videos because they used something they thought was free.

The problem isn't that there aren't enough sound effects on the internet. There are millions. The problem is that almost none of them are curated for YouTube editing specifically — sized, leveled, EQ'd, normalized, organized, and licensed in a way that makes them drop straight into a Premiere Pro or CapCut timeline.

YouTubeSFX exists to be that library. Forty hand-selected sounds in the free starter pack, each one mixed and named to match the moments YouTube editors actually use them for. A thousand more in the Ultimate Pack for creators who want the full library. Same commercial license as anything you'd pay $30 a month for. The Ultimate Pack is a one-time download — never a subscription.

Curation over volume

Most free sound effects sites operate on volume: ten thousand mediocre clips, search-bar UX, no curation. The math is the same on every page — more sounds equals better library. We disagree.

If you've ever spent twenty minutes hunting for a single whoosh you'd actually use in a video, you understand why. The bottleneck isn't pack size — it's signal-to-noise ratio. A library with ten whooshes that all work beats a library with two hundred that mostly don't.

Every sound in YouTubeSFX is a sound that's been picked because it works in a YouTube edit, by someone who knows what works in a YouTube edit. We made the cuts so you don't have to.

Studio-quality, file-format honest

The free starter pack ships as WAV (24-bit, 48kHz) where the source material supports it, and MP3 (320kbps) for shorter clips where the difference is inaudible. Every sound is normalized to roughly -6dB peak with -18 to -22dB RMS — meaning they drop into your timeline at usable broadcast levels without you needing to gain-stage them by hand.

Whooshes are sized for typical YouTube cut tempos (0.4s for jump cuts, 1.2s for scene transitions). Risers come in three lengths covering most reveal pacings (1s, 2s, 3s). Impact hits are timed so the transient sits frame-accurate on a 30fps timeline if you align them to the cut.

If you don't know what any of that means: it means the sounds work in your editor without further processing. If you do know what it means: it means we did the audio engineering upstream so you don't have to do it on every clip.

Licensing in plain English

Every sound in YouTubeSFX — both the free starter pack and the Ultimate Pack — is royalty-free for commercial use. That means:

  • Monetized YouTube videos — yes, no Content ID claims.
  • Client work — yes, including paid work where the client pays you.
  • Paid courses, paid content, paid social — yes.
  • TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts — yes.
  • Used inside finished video productions you resell — yes.
  • Attribution required — no, never.

The one thing you can't do: redistribute the sounds themselves as a sound effects pack (i.e., bundle them into your own SFX library and sell that). But you can use them inside any video, ad, course, or finished product, for any client, in any quantity, for the rest of your life. Same as Artlist, Epidemic Sound, or Storyblocks — just without the recurring subscription.

Built for creators in the editing styles of...

YouTubeSFX is curated for the editing aesthetics of the most-cited YouTube creators. You don't have to be making videos in one of these styles to use the library, but if you are, the site has dedicated pages with frame-by-frame breakdowns of each creator's signature audio pattern.

  • MrBeast — heavy bass drops, layered impact hits, fast whooshes for challenge and entertainment content.
  • Iman Gadzhi — smooth cinematic whooshes, deep clean hits, vintage flashes for polished business content.
  • Casey Neistat — camera shutters, atmospheric whooshes, long flashes for vlogs treated as moving photography.
  • Ali Abdaal — gentle whooshes, subtle takeaway hits, mechanical keyboard sounds for educational content.
  • Alex Hormozi — punchy emphasis hits, fast whooshes, strong builds for sales and marketing content.
  • MKBHD — clean controlled whooshes, light hits, camera shutters for tech and product reviews.

Free now, Ultimate when you need more

The free starter pack — 40+ sounds across six categories — is genuinely free. No credit card, no trial, no email-then-paywall. Download it, use it commercially, never hear from us again if you don't want to.

The Ultimate Pack is for creators who burn through 40 sounds quickly and want the full library: 1000+ sounds across 69 categories, same commercial license, same drop-in WAV and MP3 format, same lifetime use. We don't run a freemium funnel where the free starter pack is crippleware to push you to the bigger library. The free starter pack is meant to be useful on its own — that's the entire point of giving it away.

What we believe

A few things we've decided about how this library is built and run:

  • No AI-generated sounds. Every sound in the library was recorded, designed, or processed by an audio engineer. AI-generated SFX libraries are getting common; we deliberately don't ship any.
  • No Content ID claims. Our sounds aren't registered with any rights-management system. Use them in monetized content without checking with us.
  • No subscription model. The Ultimate Pack is one-time, forever — not a treadmill.
  • No spam after email signup. The free starter pack download triggers exactly one transactional email with the download link. No newsletter, no drip campaign, no "we're back with another guide!" emails. If we ever change that, it would be opt-in.
  • Compatible with every editor. Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Logic Pro, Audition. WAV and MP3 — drag and drop.
